Working With Together We Rise to Improve the Lives of Children in Foster Care

When most children enter foster care, they are usually given two trash bags to carry their belongings in from home to home.

Together We Rise is dedicated to changing this.

In addition to their Sweet Cases program, which provides new duffle bags filled with essentials like a teddy bears, blankets, and hygiene kits, the organization builds bikes, birthday boxes, reunifications events, and much more.

In fact, TWR works with hundreds of foster agencies, social workers, CASA advocates, and other partners to bring their programs to foster youth across the nation. Their vision is to improve the lives of children in foster care, who often find themselves forgotten and neglected by the public.

Their foundation has allowed them to provide thousands of foster youth across the country with new bicycles, college supplies, and sweet cases so that children do not have to travel from home to home with their belongings in a trash bag.

Since 2008, TWR has impacted more than 600,000 children and engaged more than 339,000 volunteers. We were thrilled to add to those numbers. To help their cause, the Clarus ERG Community Engagement spent an afternoon, both in-person and remotely.

Altogether, we raised the funds to purchase, and designed, 65 full Sweet Cases, which were sent to Children’s Community Programs of CT, an affiliate of TWR. Founded in 1999, CCP is a multi-service agency that provides diverse and creative social, educational, and vocational support services in Connecticut.

A big part of our mission at Clarus is to help the community around us. Learning more about what foster children experience was astounding, so knowing that our efforts will help 65 foster kids in the local community is important to us.

It was really special to see where our donated dollars actually go and to assemble tangible totes for people in need. Learning about the work of Dignity Grows was really eye opening and we’re thankful the education around period poverty – especially to learn that it’s a need in our community.
