Industry Perspective: Walmart’s Free Shipping Subscription Move

In an interview with Payment Week, Clarus Marketing CEO Tom Caporaso says that Walmart is probably testing its free shipping subscription program in order to find the ideal mix of consumer appeal, program costs, and eligible purchases.  The new offering will likely compete with Amazon Prime, but Walmart’s overall goals and target audience aren’t the same as Amazon’s, and the Walmart program reflects those differences.
