As Bed Bath & Beyond looks to rebound from a slow second quarter, it has turned to a subscription loyalty program as its savior, named Beyond+. Members of this loyalty program, for a yearly fee of $29, will receive 20% off of all of their purchases, in-store and online, and will also receive free standard shipping for their online purchases. In this article for the Wall Street Journal, Clarus Commerce CEO Tom Caporaso comments that this is a smart move for the retailer, and it will allow them to see if their customers would adopt the subscription loyalty model, in order for the company to save its bottom line.
