Amazon’s non-Prime shoppers now must spend more for free shipping

Clarus Commerce CEO Tom Caporaso tells The Seattle Times that one reason why Amazon increased its free shipping threshold for non-Prime members to $49 is because it makes a Prime membership more attractive. Consumers’ online shopping habits are still evolving, Caporaso notes, so it makes sense for Amazon to drive non-members toward Prime, which will give Amazon a better opportunity to earn their loyalty.
